Classically simple
This dates back to 1975. Genesis. First through the discovery of
Tarkus and Pictures at an Exhibition by Emerson,
Lake & Palmer, lent to me by the older brother of a friend
(Claude Auberger). At that time I did not realize that this
was a cover of a classical piece. Then, thanks to Bernard
Bellot, a friend of my mother, an audiophile and music lover,
who wanted me to hear the version of Pictures at an Exhibition
orchestrated by Ravel. And this is one of my first positive
approaches to so-called classical music. Bernard allowed
me to discover Satie, Jehan Alain (the organ pieces), Pierre
Henry and many others. He lends me an oscilloscope, a soldering
iron, we build an amp that generated a lot of noise.
He gives me advice about my first « hi-fi stereo »
and in Switzerland (we're living in Annecy-le-Vieux at the
time) we will buy a Thorens record player (TD 145, I think
; it's still working at Eric Chabert's) that we smuggle back
home. Therefore, in a way, this disc is a belated thank
you note for opening my ears. See below « Texts
